If Nigeria Falls.

This phrase, resonates in almost every conversation about Nigeria. The non stop ethnic conflict, tribalism and complete disgust and distrust for each other. This talk about Nigeria's tangibility, started from the very beginning, from the day we developed the idea to rule ourselves. We were handed over a country at the brink of a collapse to handle. A mutation of the place we call home, a make believe development and an obvious hapharzard arrangement of tribes and colonies. As expected from a state, we were supposed to live in peace and try to tolerate one another’s missteps. You cannot control what you do not understand. Nigerians do not understand this new place. Sixty years later, and we still don’t. For a people who easily succumbed to colonialism, and accepted foreign rules without hesitation, self rule is as like a suicide we imposed on ourselves. It was just like trying to tackle a deadly contagion without first making the necessary research required to manouever it. If Nigeria falls, it may be a revelation of what it was before it was. The very naked presence of a country we revere. If Nigeria falls, wrapper has torn and we have made the evil choice to expose the privates of our motherland. Letting us have freedom at the point we had it was allowing a small baby ride a motorbike, as expected it led to a disaster. National peace or national pieces? When the hatred venom flows through our veins, it would take more than media peace messages to curb such a poison. We were not amalgamated to live in peace, we were shown each others differences and were expected to be disgusted by it and boy did we excel in doing something. We were a hypothesis, studied close enough and very predictable. You thought it was patriotism right? Patriotism would mean deep love for our country, and this will also mean love for every tribe, clan or kind. This setting does not exist in the mind of most Nigerians. Focusing on corruption, what do you expect from a country raised and fostered by looters and colonial hoodlooms. We picked up the traits, learnt obnoxious ways to ruin and manipulate anything righteous that would develop the country. We are still playing the same hand of poker our assailant used on us. Huge mess. What’s next?? Confederalism?? Do we even have a scope to enable us peer into that kind of future ??
